вечно это "киса, слу, я забыл, там, в багажнике вода/еда/бабло/киновинодомино...", а, значит, отстегивайся и лезь....
черт, мелкие японцы, но машинку явно под европейцев делали :D

а то они работают с 10 до 23, а мы мимо этого музея либо рано утром проходили, либо много позже 23 :(
хотя в такой музей идти в 10 утра..... эмм..... полдня насмарку :D

пыталась сегодня кое-кому посылочку отправить, не вышло.... ибо очередь была часа на 4 (ибо работала только одна девушка-операционист или как это там зовется)

зато вот получить посылку можно было без очереди, чем я и воспользовалась :)



подруженция из штатов подарила 2 покетбука :) Дамарис Коул муж читал на ру, а я вот теперь на англе прочитаю... а второе - внезапно не то, чего я ожидала.... сама хз, что это...

я вообще человек глубоко толерантный и без предубеждений, но...

когда на тебя из-за угла один за другим дерганной походкой выруливают 6 негров весьма агрессивной наружности, поневоле хочется влиться в асфальт, ощущая себя лишним звеном на этой явно "их" территории.....
все-таки РУДН такой РУДН :D

приехала домой, только расслабилась.... думаю, ну москва же, большинство вокруг русские и лениво добрые, как вдруг под окнами раздались женские вопли "I don't know! I don't know!"

обсуждала сегодня с подружкой "разрывы шаблона"....
вспомнилось, как я в возрасте 10 лет посещала Запорожье....
поехали на дачу к тётке, у которой жили. ей понадобились крышки для банок, она меня попросила: сходи в такой-то дом, скажи "от тёти Лиды, она просила крышек".
дошла, поздоровалась, спросила, на что мне ответили "Нэмая!"
ээээ.... вот реально мой несчастный 10летний мозг взорвался..... как немая, и говорит???? данунах, подумала бы я, если бы знала такое выражение я испугалась и убежала тогда. потом уже тётя Лида просветила :D

у меня такое ощущение, что мой муж читает новости из какой-то параллельной вселенной.....

он всегда так... как выдаст мне какую-нибудь новость, на что я обычно отвечаю "кис, да ладно! такого не может быть!", а оно потом берет и случается именно так, как он говорил....

п.с. а за окном такая красота! моя любимая ангельская перхоть :D
зимой снега не допросишься, зато почти в апреле - нате, распишитесь....

налезли, блин... со скрипом.... а снимать страшно!

да, они на нитке, и нитка рано или поздно порвется, но блин....

а если их щас пересадить на леску - то они уже не налезут. леска ж не тянется :(

читаю - и нихуя не понимаю :D слова-слова-слова, но они почему-то отказываются складываться в предложения........

завтра почитаю




The cover pic shows 19 year old Yashiro, exchanging glance with an 8 year old Doumeki, in an accidental encounter. When Yoneda Sensei initially showed a part of this pic, she commented on her twitter that the entire pic will give a different impression, and she was right. Misumi and Hirata added contrast as well as tension to the composition, and made the entire work all the more interesting.
I have been mesmerized with its beauty as well as the numerous symbols it contains, ever since I saw the cover. As it arose too much feel and thoughts, I couldn’t organize my mind for a while. After looking over it for the hundredth time and re-reading volume 2, I came up with two theories.
The first theory is that the pic shows the bright side and the dark side of life. It’s not clear cut like black/white or evil vs good, but like Yin and Yang in Asian culture, where there is always dark in the light, and light in the dark. The second theory is that the pic is not just symbolic, and that it reflects the story when he was 19, as well as the present.
My intention is not to prove what Yoneda Sensei had in mind when drawing this. Rather, they are theories on the way to appreciate the artwork and imagine the story behind it.
I tried to stick to the point, but this was the best I could. Bear with me, for those who are interested in my useless ramblings.
Time frame
The light is bright, so it’s probably day time. Looking at everyone’s clothing, kids are wearing short sleeve while adults are wearing jackets, so I think the season is anything except mid-summer and winter.
Yashiro’s bandages shows that the timing is just after he got beaten up by Hirata(and gang) for seducing his favorite subordinate. Misumi had a different outfit when he saw Yashiro’s bruised face, (different tie, not wearing a vest) so it’s not on the same day, but something like few days after the injury.
My wild imagination tells me that Y’s bandage also suggests the present. While the 19 year old Yashiro got his left arm injured, in the latest series, he is seriously injured in the right arm. Probably a coincidence, but while you can get hurt in other places like the legs, a mirror image is too interesting to let pass. With many parallels running in Saezuru, I’ll take the chance and assume that the pic also reflects the latest happenings.
Location/Occation
Since the room is decorated with chandeliers and dark red sofas, this is not Misumi’s office. I think it’s a place like a hotel lounge, since Misumi is dressed up with a three-piece suit. Coffee and newspaper suggest business, so perhaps they are killing time before a business meeting. Misumi’s subordinate(maybe Amou?) is lighting his cigarette, but M doesn’t seem to notice, perhaps deep in thought.
So the coincidence occurred somewhere Yashiro rarely goes. I’m imagining little D peeking into the lounge every time he passes by, but not finding what he’s looking for.
Direction of Attention
I then checked the direction of the characters’ gaze to see their interaction by adding purple lines. Y and D are exchanging glances, and their attention to each other is clear. Yashiro is highlighted the way Doumeki looks at him, and we can even see the attraction by his expression. Oh, so it all started from age 8!
Misumi is not looking directly at Y, but he actually is not looking at anything at all, including the newspaper. Without looking, M’s attention seems to be focused towards Y, perhaps showing concern and interest as a “human being”.
Hirata is not looking at Yashiro, perhaps reflecting his anger. He may want to throw a critical stare, but knowing M is the guardian, he can only avoid looking at anyone.
Bright and Dark/Placement of characters
Under the light/dark theory, I divided the “bright” area and the “dark” with a yellow line. It is quite clear that Y and D are in the bright side, while Misumi and Hirata are in the dark. The young and innocent in the light, old and Yakuza in the dark. So far, so good.
On the other hand, the cross shaped frame on the window(pink grid) separates Y and D, reminds us that there is a window glass separating the two. No matter how they exchange glances, and the sun shine lights the two similarly, there is literally an invisible wall separating them. If the canvas is separeted by the pink grid, Yashiro is alone in upper left, graphically illustrating that he is not yet a member of the Yakuza, but can’t go out to the “bright” side either. Naturally, M and H are both in the bottom left quadrant, the “dark” side.
Just as an experiment, I divided the canvas in equal quadrants(blue grid) and found Y is in the middle, sharing the upper right quadrant with D, at the same time sharing the upper left with M. I therefore think my assumption about Y and M being aware of each other is correct. Hirata is alone here, and completely placed within this quadrant, not interacting with anyone.
The Story behind the picture(past and present)
As I mentioned above, the picture illustrates Yashiro’s situation immediately after the injury and onwards. This is Yashiro immediately after failing to escape from the Yakuza world(darkness). He still is reluctant to join the Yakuza, and yearning to go out(brightness) if there is a chance, like a bird in a cage. This may be the reason why he repeatedly encouraged D to quit the Yakuza. According to my theory that it also reflects the present, Yashiro still wants to leave the Yakuza if he can find a way.
Misumi is a mentor, temporary lover, and a guardian to Y. He led Y in to the Yakuza world, but didn’t force him to be a member. Even in the pic, M is constantly checking on Y, probably doing so ever since he took Y under his wings. Just as he says “I know everything about you” in volume 1, so his stance is the same, past or present.
Hirata is a direct supervisor of Y, but doesn’t seem to trust Y. When they met, H said “I don’t even want to be near your sorts, but I have to, if it’s Oyaji(boss=Misumi)’s orders”. Avoiding eye contact in the pic, Hirata’s distrust seemed to have persisted. He had to banish a favorite subordinate, and losing a major chance for promotion from Misumi, all because of Yashiro. No wonder he didn’t even twitch his brows when Y was almost dead. Although H is the Kumicho, a formal boss to Y, we havn’t seen any proof of trust. If my theory about the pic reflecting the present is correct, having Hirata in the pic in itself shows he is dangerous.
Doumeki admires Y without considering gain or loss, not afraid to step into darkness(look into the room/join Yakuza) for him. From the pic, I saw that no matter how they meet, D will be attracted to Y by nature. The two kids in the background emphasize Doumeki’s difference from ordinary boys. He is bigger than the rest, looks mature and straight forward with a clear gaze, but curious enough to be interested in someone who are living in a darker side of life. During a conversation in volume 2, Y wondered what would he thought of him if D was a police officer. D answered that he will feel the same way, without hesitation. Y did not believe him, but I think the answer is proven by little D’s gaze. If Y is a bird in a cage, D will join the cage to be by his side.
Centering Yashiro as the center figure of the story behind the cover pic, the relative strength of attention is D>M>H. Misumi supported building Y’s carrier life, so to be the most important person, Doumeki will have to help his future, perhaps by providing emotional support and make him happy. As for Hirata, he is the most important player in a negative way. H still carries a grudge to Y, which prompting Nanahara into dangerous business. If my theory is right, I suspect he is the one going after Yashiro’s life. (if it was Ryuzaki, he would be in the pic)
The Future
So the cover pic as a whole portrays Yashiro’s relation with the important players in his life. 17 years ago, bright and the dark sides were clear, but in the present, the border is blurred. Doumeki is determined to stay with Yashiro, but also made a commitment to Yakuza, and will not be able to go back easily. Misumi is supportive of Yashiro, but also gives pressure to come with him. Since M is alarmed about Doumeki, Y probably will have to choose between them. Hirata is just dangerous, so he just have to escape.
How will the future be like in the Saezuru world? From the recent development in Saezuru, it’s hard to imagine a positive turn on things. My theory suggests that, perhaps the story turns from the dark side with a dash of light, to a bright place with a touch of darkness. Something like, Yashiro escaping the threat of assassination, then becomes free from Misumi’s patronage(don’t know how though.. perhaps Misumi loses the battle for succession?) and somehow a (mildly) happy ending with Doumeki.
Hopefully, the twittering birds will fly some day, some how. Wishful thinking, and I accept whatever Sensei has to offer, but they are in line with my theories.
Not much of a conclusion, but thanks for reading the long post. It was fun to think it all out in one piece. Yoneda Sensei is just great to be able to provoke such emotion and thoughts from one picture!

очередная порция вкусняшек приехала ^^ (внезапно аж с доставкой на дом! я вообще не понимаю, в каких случаях они домой посылки носят, а в каких извещения)

мда, вот одно дело на компе ITW листать, и совершенно другое - держать книжечку в руках...... потрясающая все-таки вещь!
